We’ve been doing a deep dive into The Art of Following Your Own Path, the process I’ve developed using many modalities and my own experience, to help clients learn to trust their inner wisdom to reach their full potential. The four key skills we use are listening, discernment, trusting, and choosing. We’ve discussed the nuances of listening to collect information, discernment to assess the information and decide what is true for you, and trusting—gradually building confidence that you really know what you know.
As you build trust, you’re able to take more risks. The inevitable leaps of faith aren’t always easy, especially when they are important. One of the challenges inherent in life is that you can only make choices with the information you have at that point in time. You can prepare yourself, have a backup strategy, and perhaps take smaller consecutive risks to get there more slowly. But ultimately, you have to make that leap to succeed in getting what you want and be secure in the knowledge that you are making the best choice possible in the circumstances. Nobody can make that leap for you. This is the process of choosing that results from trusting your inner wisdom.
A life coach with experience can keep you on track, support you, cheer you on, encourage you to “jump a little higher,” “try it again,” “do it a little to the left,” or remind you to tap into the inspiration that keeps you going. All of this is hugely helpful to keep you from giving up before you get what you want.
Over time, the coaching conversation shifts more and more to expand the adventure. When you fall off your path, you are guided to get back on faster—to readjust your balance and not stay stuck any longer than it takes to find the wisdom, apply it, and move on.
If you’re like me, always wanting to learn and grow, always looking for the next level of wisdom and truth, always refining your definition of success to meet your full potential—then you have to move beyond your comfort zone, to become the ever-evolving, improving version of yourself. And this is much easier to do with an experienced coach by your side. As your guide, I take you to the edge of your growth and ask: What do you know for sure now? How does this help you to explore what you’re asking for? What’s next? Who else benefits?
What’s the ultimate goal? For some, it’s peace and love. For others, it’s excitement, challenge, and flow. The goal is always success, as you define it. Happiness, prosperity, abundance, confidence, health, well-being . . . they are yours to choose. You’re the expert in your own life, and when you’re secure in your ability to hear and trust your inner wisdom, you have a rudder to make choices that lead to the life you want.
